It’s important to optimization your website (design, layout, content) but it’s equally important to develop strategies on areas outside your website. Strategies that have impact on your rankings include:
Create website content so that it’s well written, informative, as unique as possible, and free of excessive keywords. The content should be genuinely informative, contain important keywords and written for your industry. We have a content management system (CMS) that allows our clients to manage their content.
Focus on your niche market to limit your competition on searches. Also, by writing quality authoritatively content, you can generate a reputation for reliability and professionalism within your industry.
Compile a well-researched list of the most commonly searched for keywords and phrases in your niche. We recommend between 5 - 7 keywords. Scatter them strategically throughout your content, headlines, page titles, image names, URL names, page descriptions and sub-headers.
Ensure that every page of your website has a distinct and SEO-friendly URL that describes what the page is about in a few words and contains keywords.
Create concisely informative Meta descriptions for all your web pages that will contain keywords; you'll have 150-160 characters to fill. The Title tags need to fit within 70 characters and should offer very quick descriptions of the individual pages they represent with at least one or two page relevant keywords within them.
Consider how to name images (e.g., "Ghost-tour-new-orleans.jpg" is better than "tour-image.jpg"). Create brief HTML description tags for each image you post. These tags should consist of a quick description of what the image is of, keywords and how it relates to your content.
Build internal link-building by creating a well-organized and thorough link structure among your own website's pages. We recommend building a sitemap.
Encourage the creation of back links to your site from other websites; that is, links on other sites lead back to relevant content on your own website pages. This can be accomplished through vendor partners, listing services and social media.
Create and manage your social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn). Use some of the same SEO techniques that we use for your website.
